Scene Based on Real Life

I live in Knoxville TN. One of the announcers that is in the movie, Dr. Jerry Punch is from around here and is on the radio every few days. Today, they got to talking about this movie and he said that the rent-a-car scene was based on an actual event in nascar. The president of Nascar at the time, made Dale Earndardt and Geoff Bodine rent a car together because they were not getting along on the track. They ended out renting another car and they showed up to a meeting with Bill France with both cars smoking. I thought that this was fascinating
