The main theme by Hans Zimmer is really cool.

Agreed. And the opening montage, showing the preparation for the race and then the start of the Daytona 500, is just awesome. I love when the command to start engines is given and the cars just roar to life and drown everything else out. Most beautiful sound in the world for a race fan.

someone needs to put ACDC's "Thunderstruck" over that opening montage :)

It is!! Should've gotten an Oscar nom for best score, as well as David Coverdale's "Days of Thunder" song at the end, which is kind of built around the main theme

I wish Hans Zimmer would return to, at least for a few moments, to themes like "Days of Thunder" (1990) and "The Rock" (1996).
