Nicole played the least convincing doctor in film history

She was even less believable than Robert Deniro when he's played a doctor. Not sure if Sly Stallone has ever donned the scrubs before, but even he might be more convincing than pore Nicole Kidman in this movie. Laughably stupid. Accent going in and out. Didn't hold the instruments correctly. Way too young for her supposed position. Just awful. Good thing she married the #1 star in the world at the time to get her movie roles, because she stunk this one up.

Was she even worse than Swayze's doctor in "Road House"? That's a tough call, my friend.

Um, not that I disagree with your main point, because you're totally right, but she was using her actual accent in the film, so how could it be going in and out? That's the way she actually talks.

Basically Tom Cruise saw her in the film Dead Calm and said he wanted her in the film. But there was no character, so they came out with flimsy story line that she is a Australian neurosurgeon and she was 22 years old when playing it when realistically in real life she would have been still in Med School.

It sticks out like a sore thumb, and she was badly miscasted and really had no business being in the film.

Nicole Kidman could've easily have passed for a woman in her 30s in this movie. I don't think her being a doctor was much of a stretch.

If, by “doctor,” you mean someone with a doctora degree, the hands-down winner is Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones.

Oh my God, YES!!! And forgive me, but her Russian accent was easily the worst I can recall having personally heard in a movie. (I was a Russian major, lived there, worked for Russians....it was awful.) Flashbacks, the horror, the horror.

Miss Nicole Kidman actually studied, with a focus, and graduated university with a Human Biology degree, and completed a doctors/medical program a few years later... If she hadn't, the Rabid Left would have accused her of taking roles away from real doctors whom wanted to 'act' in television and film. So clearly. I mean, "So, clearly," Miss Kidman is enfact a doctoress.

Not many know this.
