So racist! Disgusting!

I'm sick of the Hollywood's racist stereotyping of buffalo as mindless, stampeding beasts. We needed a strong lead role for a buffalo in this movie to explore their deep and beautiful culture.

That's a good observation - I think the premise of this movie relative to the wildlife, (and in all such movies) is to help is imagine the wildness, danger, excitement of being around these big animals during that era when people were really beginning to encroach upon their ability to roam and be free ...

Since they are herd animals, not prone to attack, maybe this is just the behaviour they would exhibit when they are being attacked and confused . . .

I wonder if Mark Ruffalo can play a proper Buffalo.

Andy Serkis would make a kick ass buffalo.

Heh. You could replace the word 'Buffalo' with......well.....pretty much ANYTHING!

Serkis is great.

Hollywood didn't treat Costner's horse Cisco any better.

He ( Justin ) did such a great job of acting in Dancing With Wolves that he was forever typecast
and was never offered a major role in Hollywood again.

I heard he was up for the lead in Hidalgo and wasn't hired just for that reason.

Since a buffalo is not a race, but a species, the proper term would be "speciest".

I imagine they probably had a to pay quite a lot for all those buffalo. Their buffalo bill would have been pretty high.

But if you think that's bad, think of how humiliating it must be for buffalo in that they are often associated with a certain city in western New York State. 

Sadly, they couldn't find any buffalo actors so they had bison portray these prairie denizens. Do they even speak the same language?
