WOW, Only One Other Topic on Here?

come on now, this is a great movie... even if the writer is an arrogant prick. (sorry, talked to him once and he was super rude)

Tess Harper is at her best in this movie.

I agree with about Tess Harper I fell in love with her after watching this movie

amen, jay, I thought her eyes in this movie were beautiful and my favorite scene with her was when she and her younger sister had that huge fight where her sister revealed she has been sleeping with her "fiance".

Yeah this was a pretty good movie, sad at times too. The ending was so sad, but good in a way.

I don't know who you met claiming to be Del Shores, but if he was rude to you, I'll guarantee you it wasn't him. Del is one of the nicest people on the planet. Once you meet him, you're a friend. That simple. This is a business in which a lot of people pretend to be who they are not. But Del Shores is the exact opposite of an arrogant prick.

reply

Steve, it is possible as it was not in person, but through a series of e-mails. All I know is that the emails were all signed by Del Shores himself. Thank God Kevin Williamson is around to give young gay screenwriters hope. He was the kindest man and gave me some wonderful advice and insight.

I was given Del Shores's email address by one of his crew members (who shall remain nameless because I don't want him to get in trouble for me calling out Del on his attitude) and told that it was a public email, which is also used on his personal website for fans to contact him. I wrote him an email telling him that Daddy's Dying and Sordid Lives were two of my favorite movies and asked him what inspired him to write. His response was," I'm far too busy to mentor people. If you want to learn how to write, go to school."

I went back and reread the email I sent him, which was a total of two lines, one being nothing but compliments of his work. My question was what inspired HIM to write. And as I already have a mentor, there was no reason for me to ask that he be it. So his rude reply was enough to tell me just what kind of ego he had. I wrote him back, telling him that I hoped he would remain busy, but with an attitude like his, it's far too easy that doors will start slamming shut in his face and soon he'll have all the time in the world to mentor someone who might actually want him, but that person wouldn't be me.

And then I added that the difference between he and Kevin Williamson is that Kevin is not only a far superior writer, but also kind and grateful to the fans who have made his movies successful. As much as I enjoyed the two films Del has released, there is a reason why his movies have not been as successful as Kevin's. And while Kevin is writing the CW's biggest hit in years (Vampire Diaries) Del was writing for Logo's Sordid Lives The Series and Queer as Folk.

That aside, still love this movie. I just noticed it wasn't directed by Del though.
