Old fashioned angles to this film

For a film made in 1990, this film has a few things that make it look like it was made considerably earlier. Firstly Jane Birkin used an old typewriter and the funny bit is where she visited her Dad (Bogarde) in hospital and he said to her: "Not very gay here is it?" The old fashioned meaning of "gay" being "happy"! Lol!

yes, some rather dated things but nevertheless a great movie!

The father character was of an age where he would have used the word 'gay' in its original meaning. My grandmother used to as well.

As for the typewriter, I think the first time we could afford a home desktop PC was in about 1995 (this film was made in 1990). Laptops were unheard of. So it makes sense Jane Birkin would have an old-style typewriter.
