what would it have been like if Cyrano and Roxane hooked up?

Just wondered what would their relationship be like, if I were with Cyrano I would love him with all my heart but hate him everytime he gets into a duel because I worry about him to death. I know that he would have married Roxane and she would tolerate his constant dueling. Maybe they'd argue and he would write her a poem that would woo her and they make sweet love.

you really think she is that spoiled? I think she wouldn't care where she was as long as Cyrano continued to make her happy. He would sacarfice his happiness for her and more, that is the measure of a man.

Deformed offsp----oh wait.

It's an interesting question. I wonder if she would get exasperated at his constant dueling, or if he might become domesticated and more tolerant. We'll never know.

I think he would cause in the play when he realized that she was confessing to loving someone from his regiment, he said that he would be content with traveling, dueling and writing for the rest of his life like a monk.

reply

Possibly. Maybe he would have gotten upset at not being able to fight.

reply

I am sure he wouldn't care as long as he was with Roxanne.

With deepest respect to the people who responded so far to this thread please remember that this is a play, adapted as a film.

To suggest this leaves me shaking my head. Every beautiful emotion that one is capable of feeling and the life lessons the play points to would vanish. No 'voice in the dark' beneath Roxanne's balcony, etc, none of them.

We'd be left with a 17th Century version of 'Married with children' and expectations of sequels on the horizon.
Please consider reading as many translations/adaptations as you can find, over and over until it starts to make sense.
1. Sex is not love, affection maybe and love is not sex.
2. Our self perception is generally skewed
3. Love yourself first.

No wonder the French look down their noses at us.

They wouldn't have had a relationship, period.
