Robert Duvall

I have watched this past week, 1 of Robert Duvall earliest films..Lawman..where he played a supporting role...Burt Lancaster, Lee J. Cobb, and Robert Ryan were the stars of 1 of my favorite movies then chanced upon this film last night..I have come to believe Robert Duvall may have become the leading Male Actor in American history..The breath of roles he has taken over the years..from Supporting roles to Lead Characters..is amazing..Westerns being a very big part of his legacy..Yes, I know I am making a very bold statement..Bogart, Pachino. Peck, De Niro, all being on my favorite list along with many others..But invariably when he takes on a role, it sticks with me forever as 1 I always appreciate and remember..It is fun to see the growth as an Actor he has undergone when you watch a movie early in his career to now..and I hope he has a long way to go!

I completely agree with you. He makes a role so very memorable. In this movie, Convicts, Robert Duvall literally mirrors my grandfather's behavior in his later, Alzheimer's ridden years. So much so, that I am positive he either has been close to a family member with Alzheimer's, or studied the living bejesus out of the behaviors caused by the disease. I have grown to have so very much respect for Mr. Duvall. Augustus McRae, Prentice Ritter, Boss Spearman, Mac Sledge, Lt. Col. Kilgore, etc., etc., etc., the world just would not be the same without these characters. Likewise these characters would not be who they are at all, with anyone else at the helm. Thank you for your work Mr. Duvall.
