Any quality Region 1 DVDs?

It appears the only Region 1 DVD available is from Madacy, which is not exactly synonymous with high quality. The Region 2 DVD is from MGM. I don't understand why MGM doesn't release a Region 1 DVD. Does anyone know if there is a good quality Region 1 DVD?

I actually have the Madacy version. It's full screen and there are no extras but the picture quality is fine. It's the only version I have ever come across and I think I got it for under $10 so it should tide you over until a better version comes along. Why wait? Get it today and enjoy this ludicrous tale as soon as possible.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Amazon has it for $7 and it is part of the 4-for-3 sale. With the talent involved, it seems an official studio DVD release would be in order. I will likely order the Madacy release soon.

While the film probably isn't at the top of any distributor's list, I don't think MGM owns the film in the US. It was released by Skouras Pictures theatrically and on video by Paramount (who also did video releases of some of Dimension's early product). Skouras isn't around any more so I don't think Paramount or MGM have the US rights.

I know this is about 4 years late, but Skouras Pictures is actually still in business, but under the name Skouras Films, as opposed to Skouras Pictures.

As for this film, I'd like to see this. Saw the trailer on my VHS of The End of Innocence. I'll probably track down the Region 2 MGM DVD.

The Criterion blu-ray is the way to go.
