Any other movies like this?

I finally got to see the movie today after renting it on amazon.com, I loved it. I know it could have been better in some ways but its the only movie I have seen that centered around the Japanese American internment during WWII. I was wondering if anyone knows anymore movies made around this subject? I feel like a lot of the WWII movies focus on the wars abroad, but not so many made focusing on this atrocity that happened on our soil.

"Snow Falling on Cedars" (1999) is the only other major film about Japanese internment. Shame there are only two major films about Japanese internment when there are a million-and-one Holocaust flicks out there.

So lay down!

The contrast in number of films is perhaps because the Nisei were interned and not slaughtered in death camps.

That is certainly a factor ... but don't kid yourself there is an element of guilt here. Racism is a slippery slope when you start to pull people from their homes and load them onto trains and relocate them to camps hundreds of miles away from their homes ... the gas chambers are not that far away.

The great question when we look back at Nazis Germany is when and where did this slippery slope begin. A simple response is the demonizing of a race within the society ... literally blaming your problems on others. That is what happened to the Jews in Germany in the early 30's and the Japanese in the US in the early 40's.

It also sounds like something that happened in the US over the last few years. I call it Trumpism ... blaming your problems on others. We shall see how that plays out.

American Pastime is another story, this time centered around baseball, that takes place in a Japanese internment camp.
