WOW! I can't believe there are actual FANS of this movie!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS MOVIE! I remember watching this movie all the time when I was about 7 years old. It would come on pay-per-view all the time and I would be there to watch it all the time.

Just recently I finally found that they had released the movie on DVD in Korea; as such the fan I am of this movie, I had to order it! Upon watching it again 15 years later, I realize that this is one of my favorite movies ever made! I really can't believe how underated it is. I would probably say 1 out of 20 people actually know this movie exists. Maybe even more than that. John P. Ryan is great in this movie! Bradley Gregg is right behind him! Should be watched at least once by everyone. I can offically say that I now have a movie that I can watch back to back over and over again all day without getting tired of it! It's really even hard for me to put the movie back into it's case after watching it!

So here's my question: WHAT ABOUT THE SOUNDTRACK?!?@?$%!

I love the theme for this movie, "Come the Day". Believe it or not, it's also one of my favorite songs ever made. I can listen to it over and over again and not get tired of it, just like the movie itself! Does anyone know where I might be able to find the soundtrack to this film? I know there are only five songs or so, but even if someone knew where buy or download "Come the Day" by itself would be great as well! If anyone knows where to get a hold of this song or the entire soundtrack PLEASE let me know A.S.A.P!

Another question: Is Class of 1984 worth buying? What about Class of 1999 II?

reply

This film is a bona-fide "drive-in" classic! The fact that hardly anyone knows of it just makes it that more special, just like another unknown classics "The Hidden"!

Class of 1984 is a very different type of film but its still a great movie! Class of 1999 II is very bad, with very low TV production values, but its still pretty entertaining.

reply

Class of 1999 is the ultimate low-budget shabby-PPV-channel movie.

reply

ah the hidden, what an incredible movie. i just watched class of 1999 for the first time yesterday, i thought it was great!

its better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it

reply

bro, it's on blu-ray, anyone can buy it from Target

I saw this one when it came out and always loved it. It reminded me of "Terminater" meets "The Principal. This movie kicks ass when it came out and still kicks ass.

I remember watching this movie on HBO or Showtime (I can't remember which) when I was younger. I remember liking and would love to see it again to see if it still has it. My favorite lines would have to be "I was there, he was so wasted he didn't know which end the bullets came out." and "This is odd, usually when a woman has a black bra she has black panties to match." (Or something along those lines, it's been quite awhile since I've seen it)

reply

Yeah, Class of 1999 did have a few classic lines. One of my favorites being "Now lets go in and kill some teachers" or something like that.

reply

Would actually have to say my favorite line is:

"TIMES CHANGE! ..brother."

oh, and:

"Your all *beep* PATHETIC!"

and good GOD, if John P. Ryan isn't the *beep* in this movie, I don't know what is.

Oh, and in saying that I would ahve to conclude with the following line:

"I operate from a model of...a...b-solute zero tolerance.."

reply

wow, I actually found some quotes! Im so happy right now!
(G) ok, calm down right? um, perrybeth I have some questions, who says the quotes in the order you typed them?
Whats the scene with that "I was there, he was so wasted" quote? Forgive me, I havent seen this movie in ages and to think I used to watch it everyday when I was younger, tell me please?

reply

I just watched it. That line comes right after the first kill; that is the kid with the gun that the Phys Ed teacher kills, as the gun sets off the "War" mode. Cody sees the whole thing because whe was getting beaten to death by said cyborg.

The quotes from perrybeth are both said by Cody, in that order he said them.

This movie owns!!!

I was a BIG action nut in the early nineties even though I was like 8. I taped this movie on TMC, then watched it and was hooked for the next couple of years. This really is the ULTIMATE CULT MOVIE, and may have even prevented stuff like this from happening in real life. My mother was a high school teacher, and when she saw it, she thought that this is wehre things were going to lead. Perhaps enough people saw it and it gave them a wake up call to prevent it. A far out theory I know.

reply

Yea i saw this with some friends late at night on Showtime about 9 years ago then I bought it on video a few years ago. I liked the whole B movie vibe and the very dark and violent tone. It also reminded me of the Principal. I also liked the characters and even tho they were kind of bad as well they were still good and just dealing with their surroundings. Oddly enough I wound up going to a continuation school for "bad kids" in 1999 for selling weed. No robot teachers tho but plenty of gangsters!

Anyways compared to this movie the sequal sucks and has no substance.

However I recently watched Class of 1984 and it is just as good as Class of 1999 if not better. Only difference is the punk students try to kill the teacher. There is also a great performance by a young Michael J. Fox.

I'm an italian guy and I also LOVE this movie!!

I have it on VHS and on DVD (french, uncut version, bought in Paris)

Those who called this the ultimate drive-in movie are absolutely correct, even though drive-in theaters have long been gone from the landscape. These days, it makes a great late night TV entertainment. Director Mark Lester has done better work, like COMMANDO, but this is a terrifically loopy sci-fi satire the likes of which have rarely been seen. Everyone should see it at least once.

You are right! I live in Spain and rented this classic by a chance. I absolutelly fell in love with it, buying the tape in the process and watching it hundred of times over the years. I can´t understand why this film is ignored and apparently forgotten. It has one of the most entertaining ultra-violent-but-great-fun action films I can remember and quickly becomes an all time favorite.
Great visuals, Great acting (Fabio and Cody are great), GREAT music and GREAT fun. Will love to discuss this great movie with anyone! Toni

It makes me so proud that I am not the only one in love with this movie. I still remember watching this movie when I was 6 and it's still very close to my heart.

I love John P. Ryan, I love the theme "Come the Day", and I love this movie!

reply

I love this movie too, highly underrated.

reply

Add me to tha fan list ha! I remember I must of been 11 or something when this first came on to HBO or something, my friends parents were gone and we were watching all the late night/early morning bad not for kids to see stuff and came across this. I was so amazed then as I am now. They should totally release this as dvd for the US.
And who could believe I liked Cody character I tried to be like him school minus all the violence, but I liked how he had the banzana and backwards cap look lol. Even drew a blackheart tattoo thing on me... and again, I was just 11 haha.

I first saw this movie when I was 17. I was at boarding school in Melbourne Australia and living at school was pretty dull. One of my mates from Malaysia had a large collection of VCDs and 'Class of 1999' was a real gold plated treasure! At first I wasn't aware of this film and the first couple of minutes of the film it "stunk" of straight to video cheese. However, I wasn't prepared for a life changing occurance.... This movie was just damn entertaining and quite possibly one of the only b-movies I've become obsessed with. In fact, my friends and I watch this film over and over and never get bored of it.

reply

This movie rules. I first saw it in the early 90s, and it's still awesome today.

reply

I love this movie. It is cheesy as all great action films are. John P Ryan what a smile. However have met Patrick Kilpatrick - what a nice guy.

Think i watch that again tommorow.

reply

liz69: "John P Ryan what a smile."

Amen to that!

Do you guys know that he passed away not too long ago? How sad!! I'm still heartbroken. According to the site he died on March 20th from a stroke. I still owe it to myself to catch his other movies. He was also great in Delta Force 2.

reply

i saw it a week ago i think it is a great movie worth seeing i now want to see class on 1999 the substitute and class of 1984

reply

this is my fave movie i love it!

reply

I must disagree: This is actually the ultimate 1AM Saturday night 3rd rate network (WNUV - Baltimore 54!) too young to drink/drive chilling in your parents semifinished basement movie.

"That description actually fits Class of 1999 Part 2: The Substitute."

I'm sorry Baxter; you're absolutely right. My mistake.

This movie was goofy, but then, I think thats kind of the appeal to it. Its kind of a sci-fi and weird twist on Class of 1984. The HUDs showing what the teacher is doing are really, really funny (CORPORAL PUNISHMENT -> MODERATE) or KILL KILL KILL when they go nuts.

Its a campy movie, but bearable; it kind of paved the way for other similar movies like "The Faculty". Funny thing is, that it kind of works as a reversal on Class of 1984, as here it is the teachers the ones who have to be put out of service in the end.

I wish this movie had a worthy sequel, as "Class of 1999 II" was way off the mark of either 1984 or 1999, it might have been good if unrelated to this one and well, better acting (or more campiness).
