US translation of title doesn't quite work (spoilers)

It might seem to be a trivial point, but the 'château' in the title (which presumably refers to the house with the keeper and big dog) wouldn't be described as a 'castle' in English as such a term is only used about a building with some sort of battlements, even if obviously fake. The building in the film would be called a mansion or country house.

Otherwise I think the film is a bit too cute for its own good. Boy is dominated by snooty girl who gets the *beep* and leaves. And all that stuff about the short cut along the canal went on forever and was terribly laboured.

It would be a bit much even for an entirely fictional comedy, but this is supposed to be biographical. I don't know what the original book is like, but real life doesn't fall into neat little stories like that, unless falsified.

And do French pupils really do French dictation? I remember all that 'vergule' and 'point' stuff, but we never had English dictation - what would be the point?
