I saw a similar movie to BDEL a while ago on cable. It was about a nuclear war/WWIII situation with a style like BDEL. I remember there is one scene where a nuclear detonation goes off right by an aircraft carrier in the ocean. I don't think it sinks it. It was not "Sum of All Fears" but something more like a made for cable/HBO/Showtime movie By Dawns Early Light. Anybody know what movie it was.
Odds are it was Countdown to Looking Glass, with Scott Glenn (played Alan Shepard in The Right Stuff) as a reporter aboard the USS Nimitz, which ends up being attacked by Soviet nuclear weapons, and presumed sunk.
"Has anybody ever told you you have a SERIOUS IMPULSE CONTROL PROBLEM??"
Thank you, watched it on Youtube and that was what I saw a few years ago on cable. Surprised it was made in 1984, I thought it was later like in the late 80's or early 90's from the military footage I remember seeing but after watching it again it does seem like the earlier 80's from the actors and way they were dressing and haircuts.
Special Bulletin was a good movie! One of the best cold-war era nuclear thrillers. When the nuclear detonation happened, it was pretty scary and realistic. I remember watching the world premier on NBC. It was on youtube at one time. Not sure if it's still there.
