shareI agree Burner! It's still a likely scenario in the new calculus of present-day world danger (2004).
HBO is releasing this on DVD June 1, 2004 -- now available for pre-order at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00021R7CG/qid=1085376852/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/103-9897244-5980600?v=glance&s=dvd
I do believe that the movie was intended only for cable, but you're right - it would be good in the theaters...
sharePeople actually LIKED this movie?
Wow... I thought it was a real stinker. The secretary of the environment becomes President, tries to plunge the world into WW3, and none of his staff put a round in his head? Yeah... no.
And if the Air Force One pilots were so ready to die to save the world, why didn't they just plow the damn plane into the ground a lot sooner?
Actually, he was the Secretary of the Interior, not the "secretary of the environment."
shareExcellent film,...just needs Bluray....
JEJ steals the film.....almost.

Sometimes,..I think it's a sin,.when I feel like I'm winning,..when I'm losing again - Lightfoot
Agreed on both except for the almost part. Most underrated nuclear doomsday film ever. I would put this right next to "Fail-Safe" in the disturbing realism category.
shareI totally agree! When I saw this HBO movie the first time I was in awe over how good it was! Powers Boothe was simply EXCELLENT as the pilot in command of the B52! The overall cast was marvelous, and I got a lump in my throat when James Earl Jones' character saluted the pilots of the other plane who were about to ram into HIS plane and destroy it! This movie held my interest from the beginning, and I could not forget it.
