Similarities between Jennifer Jason Leigh's character here and in "Single White Female" (1992).

Hi.

Did anyone else detect some and other similarities between Jennifer Jason Leigh's character in here and in "Single White Female" two years after this, where she also played a female psychopath but whereas here she intended basically to kill her (husband, is it?) for the money with the help of her equally demented if not more so boyfriend played by the same actor who played the zealous reporter in "Die Hard" (1988) and its 1990 sequel "Die Hard 2: Die Harder", in Single White Female, she intended to start to look and act more like her female companion neighbour all the way to the point of wanting to ruin her life and even commit acts of murder and other forms of violation?

And in both films, she attempts to kill a dog, however, while here she gets stopped by the buried man who decided to avenge his forced burial and doesn't succeed, in Single White Female she does, and in both films also, she kinda complains that it isn't her fault that she is driven to all of this and that she has become what she has, it is somehow the fault of the men close to her, who either didn't try hard enough to make her happy or have mistreated her in some or other ways, although interestingly, both this film and Single White Female has at least ONE negative MALE character in it as well, in this obvious case it is the "Die Hard reporter guy" by her side, even though sadly, her character DOES also turn to the dark side and does wrong things against people who DIDN'T deserve it EITHER.

I bet Single White Female's director Barbara Schroeder has seen this film and was impressed by JJL's performance and was even influenced by her character in here.
