Awesome Movie!

How could people say this movie is stupid and boring?! Once again, Kathryn Bigelow proves she is the most underrated director of all! She made this film just like movies are supposed to be made. The good scenes she does slow motion and that damn killer just keeps coming back every time you think he's finally dead! Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!

YESS!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree, more people should like this movie.

I likewise concur. I thought this film was quite tense and effective, although I must admit the story was pretty absurd and unbelievable. However, Jamie Lee Curtis was terrific in the lead and Ron Silver made for a memorably crazed psycho; their fine acting really kept this picture humming. Plus Kathryn Bigelow directs this movie with a stunning sense of dazzling style and panache.

this movie creeped me out when i was a kid

You can't swing a dead cat in hollywood without hitting someone with a vampire script

I just saw this at the IFC Center and was blown away. I've been a fan of Kathryn Bigelow's for years because of Strange Days but I always held off on renting this. I just kind of thought it seemed like a cheesy 80s cop movie with Jamie Lee Curtis but I was amazed at how stylish and gritty it was. The American Psycho aspect of the storyline was very intriguing too, especially given that this actually came out in the 80s. Interesting time capsule. I can't believe this isn't more highly touted by genre film fans. A double feature of this and Ms. 45 would be unreal!

This is a very great film, very underrated and I LOVED Jamie Lee Curtis in here, she looked so damn hot in here!! And Ron Silver was so friggin' creepy.

Take it in the context of the era in which it was filmed and it is actually a good movie.

Probably a 6/10 in reality

The direction is perfect and never has a dull moment. Bigelow does a great job building tension starting with the cool opening credits sequence.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bret Easton Ellis based American Psycho on Eugene Hunt. The image of a stock broker drenched in a whore’s blood can’t be a coincidence.

I still love this movie.

well I would have liked it...if it was good

omg lol...i have no faith left in mankind if u rly think this crapfest is good...its not even decent ffs...the whole movie is one big plot hole joke and if u cant see that, u must be in som Bigelow fan cult or something like that...

reply

Yeah, right. Like you watched this movie for its brilliant plot lines. I'll believe that like I'll believe that you (for those of you who do) read Playboy/Playgirl for their riveting articles. I only watched this movie for ONE reason only - Jamie Lee Curtis AND her romp scene in/out of the bed. Yes. I saw this movie and Trading Places for their extraordinary "panache" in storytelling - - NOT!!! For all I care about this movie, JLC and Ron Silver could have been flying around on Dumbo's ears...I'll say this for the movie, I thought that scene in which Megan was arresting Eugene, she should have shoved the gun up his a$$ and pulled a "Lisa Bonet" on him!

"Why me?...I mean, why me?"

Details are important and yes my grammar do suck...

The movie is kind of dumb, but the direction did help make up for somewhat for the very flawed script.

Ron Silver's funny moments 

-He walks in the street on a rainy night where he almost got hit by a car and then he trips.

-Ron's face when he demonstrates schizophrenia symptoms while working out 

-The way he walked after he got out his building heading to the park to get his gun while Jamie Lee follows him.

-The impact from Ron when Clancy Brown kicks his car door at him during a fire fight with Jamie Lee. Then he runs away like crazy in the middle of traffic.

-Ron's pain reaction when he pulled out the bullet from his wounded arm.

-Ron's butt-crack when he leaped back because Jamie kicked him off when he was aggressively raping her.

On your last point, do you think he actually spadged in her before she kicked him off?

Bearing that in mind, it’s almost funny how she always dreamed of being a cop, finally qualifies, then immediately gets involved in a robbery shoot-out resulting in…
1. A witness getting PTSD from the encounter which randomly turns him into a psycho obsessed with JLC.
2. He goes on a murder spree, kills her best friend (a wife and mother), threatens her family etc.
3. He shoots her new lover immediately after they’ve fucked and then instantly rapes her.
4. He has a supernatural ability to evade capture, stalking her and killing more people until she finally takes him down.

Like, is she the unluckiest person ever? Was God trolling her by turning her childhood dream into… that?
