Why didn't the grocery store checker...

Possible spoilage below?

Why didn't the grocery store checker corroborate that Tom Sizemore had a gun?

That was the stupidest part of the movie.

The checker was "scared" and thought it could've been a knife.....but there were at least three other witnesses, besides Eugene, who must've seen the gun and heard the robber talking about "blowing heads off." It made no sense...plus Jaime Lee Curtis shoudlve just pointed out that the cops didnt find a knife on the scene either, and someone's a lot more likely to risk taking a gun from a crime scene than a lousy old knife.

reply

Jamie Lee says "put the gun down" twice before firing, so why would anyone think he had a knife.....?

reply

The script already had a big hole in it by the time Megan enters the robbery store since she would not have found the back door unlocked or partially open. Only if the clerk had a death wish would they leave the back door unlocked while they were up front.

Why didn't Megan's character ask the clerk at the store across the street where she spilled the drink "Please call 911 and tell them 'in progress across the street, cop needs backup etc........' before running out? Rookie mistake I guess but the door open in back? I doubt it....

Guns kill people, just like Spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

I thought this was stupid as well. He did see the gun, he had it pointed in his face for about 5 mins.

Ha...I thought the same thing. Man, those are the world's worst witnesses to a crime.

reply

what do you mean?

you mean why didn't he try to take it away? he was scared! He just stood there.

reply

It seemed to me That all around police work is this case was sorely lackng. Megan's "lone wolf" behaviour and as it seems the detectives screwed the investigation too. What no witnesses were secored during this investigation? I thought this was pretty big plot hole too. What nobody saw Ron in the store and/or saw him leave. I'm sorry but I can't believe that nobody had there eyes on the exit during the robbery. Just two basic concepts: First, listen to the scary man with the gun and do whatever he says (...and get down on the floor)... Secondly, (Think!) Were the hell is the exit to this place? ...OK! maybe (Think!) "Please Don't Shoot Me" should be Secomd.

Don' like wat U see! Don' like wat U heard! Don' like wat happen!

The store was full of witnesses, the checker has a gun pointed at his face for 5 full minutes, surely there were video cameras, she yells Drop the Gun at least twice...and no one believes her?!
COME ON!

This film lost its credibility after this scene.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

The movie's weak point is its writing, and this is the biggest example of that. That nobody in the store was able to confirm that he did have a gun is ridiculous. I suppose they wanted to fulfill the turning in the badge cliche.

reply

Yeah the movie could have had smart witnesses, and you can still have the same plot. The witnesses confirm what she saw, a gun, but the gun is not there. Ron Silver still has the gun either if the witnesses are stupid or not, so their was no need to have it written that way just to have the cop being suspended cliche.

reply

Beyond stupid. If they thought he had a knife why did they all bother to get on the floor all around the supermarket? What did they think he would do if he didn't get what he wanted? He's not going to run around a big supermarket stabbing people one by one. Nobody goes robbing places with a knife. And what was that checkout kid doing? He had the gun right in his face.

reply

And wouldn't a convenience store have video cameras? Or was that not as common as it is today?

There were at least 5 people who saw he had a gun and I have no idea why they wouldn't believe her seeing as the checkout guy had it three inches from his face.

Another thing is it seemed like that robbery took way too long. She was able to go across the street, through the back, and make her presence known and the kid still hadn't emptied the register? Not just that, but where was her partner? If she seen what was going on through the window surely he must have.

Ridiculous movie but I had to keep watching.

Clancy Brown was nice.
