shareI gave it an 8. One of my guilty pleasures.
Everyone must at least admit the Zoo climax was pretty inventive!
I know, it seems a little overly-generous to me too--especially since Hawn's far-better (while not perfect) The First Wives Club's "weighted average" here is not much higher.

Yeah, it doesn't deserve a 5.3, it deserves a 3.5 at best. Apparently Goldie and Mel wanted to make the worst film of each of their careers and decided to do it together.
shareMel and Goldie definitely make this movie work.
I gave it a 7 strictly due to their charisma, solidifying Mel's status as a modern legend. Only a star as great as Mel, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Robert DeNiro or Cary Grant could make a movie this silly feel like gold. Or an actress as good as Goldie, Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock or Katharine Hepburn could tie it all together.
Tom Cruise, comedy star? Did you even see Risky Business, Jerry Barfguire or Knight and Day? And Gibson?! Lethal Weapon has funny lines, but they would work with a sock puppet as well as they did with Mel. Cruise and (career RIP) Gibson are action movie stars, not comic actors. Jack Lemmon was a comic actor. Zero Mostel, John Laroquette, Steve Martin, WC Fields were comic actors. So too Danny Devito. I concur that DeNiro can be funny. But not those other guys guy named. They can be wooden. “Dying is easy. Comedy—that’s hard.” Biggest funny movie star I know of is Clint Eastwood.
share7 years since you began this post Bird On A Wire has received some love and has gone from 5.3 to 5.8... I consider it to be a solid 7.0... entertaining action-comedy with two very likable leads... I've seen it at least 20 times.
shareI gave it 8
shareit's an 8 for me as well, I think it's hilarious.
