I like it

It's a good film to watch on a rainy day. It's funny, and exciting, and Mel and Goldie have fantastic chemistry.

Very true, it’s perfectly pitched, and the pacing is excellent. Criminal that nobody talks about this film anymore.

I loved it when it came out. Saw it twice in the theatre. Bought the VHS. It's still ok, but Mel Gibson is kind of cringe now. Same with Tom Cruise. It's harder to enjoy their movies now. I used to really like them back in the day. Can't stand either of them now. Ick

reply

I love Goldie Hawn, so I still enjoy it for her performance. She's so hilarious in this movie.

reply

A really fun movie. It's one of those films that you can sit back, relax and just enjoy!

It’s testament to their talent that they have both been revealed to be lunatics, but have come out the other end as Hollywood legends who can still bring in the crowds.

In fact, I’ll take Mad Mel any day over the Woke Cult that Hollywood has now become.

Trivia bit: Part of it was filmed in my town here of Victoria, BC and other parts of the province of British Colombia. It got a laugh from us because at one point they are clearly on a BC ferry... you can see the mountains in the distance... but they are supposed to be in some flat midwestern State, nowhere near any mountain range.

reply

Fan Tan Alley is pretty obvious as well

reply

Ha! Yes, they filmed a motorcycle chase through Chinatown. An autographed photo of Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn hangs in one of the restaurants.

Are you a local, or were you a visitor?

reply

I'm an Albertan, but I have spent a lot of time in Victoria.

I also thought it was really funny that just a couple of years later, Rumble in the Bronx tried to pass off the hovercraft scene with mountains in the back and the Vancouver skyline as New York

reply

Yeah, I remember that too.

We have a vacay time share condo up in Parksville. For the past four years, Treat Williams, Jesse Metcalfe and others have filmed that Hallmark series Chesapeake Shores every spring. They stay at our resort... I've talked to Treat Williams a few times.

The fictional Chesapeake Shore is supposed to be in Maryland somewhere. I've never been to Maryland myself, but I'm pretty sure there are no snow capped peaks on the horizon. And no towering fir trees. Not to mention the lighting which never matches the time of day.
