Scenes Used in Category 6 and Category 7

A lot of scenes from this movie were used in their later movies. In "Category 6" the scene with the staircase full of people and upper floors falling down (with sofa) is used. So is a scene in the emergency medical facility with the nurse walking through. The flooding scene that shows the sign of Wilshire Blvd is also in "Category 7', though it is supposed to be taking place in New York City.

I have also seen scenes from this in other movies.

I hate it when they do this.

I totally agree with you on that clactonO. It really cheapens a movie when they do that. Just like in Beyond The Poseidon Adventure. When you see the liner being capsized in a rain storm...duh, there was not a rain storm during the capsizing in the original. Mrs. L.

You seem to be forgetting that this is a TV movie. They don't have hundred-million dollar budgets like hollywood. I thought the earthquake fx were surprisingly good, considering that.

So maybe they got back a few bucks by selling off a couple of scenes to someone else. So wot? It's still the best disaster film I've seen, Not over the top in the schmaltz department like they usually are.

I remember a lot of the earthquake footage (especially the flexing tower blocks) being inserted wholesale into the appalling stalker film 'Quake' with Steve Railsback and Erika Anderson. That film was truly unwatchable but 'The Great Los Angeles Earthquake' was excellent.
