E-mail from Synapse, Info on Basket Case 2 SE DVD...

I recently read on this Basket Case 2 message board that Synapse films was supposed to be releasing a Special Edition DVD of Basket Case 2. I was pretty excited to hear that. When i went to the official site, it claimed they would have a release in 2006. As i read that my excitement dropped...since...it's 2007.

So I simply contacted them, asked then about the DVD and quickly i got a very imformitive reply.

My message: "Well, Basket Case 2 never came out. What's the deal? We're there
going to be any special features or anything?"

Reply: "BASKET CASE 2 hasn't come out yet because we are still waiting for the
make-up effects featurette from Gabe Bartalos and Frank Henenlotter. They
are working on something for us, but have never delivered it, so I don't
know when it will be released. It WILL come out, but we have to wait for
what the director is going to give us for extras material.

I just received a copy of our HD master to look at, though, and the audio
work is being performed now. I want to have it out by October for
Halloween. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.

So I guess this counts as news for everyone. There's not doubt in my mind that there is an audio commentary, even though the guy never mentioned that. Henenlotter has done one for everyone of his films, then again I'm aware he just did the Basket Case sequels for money. I think Henenlotter has love for Basket Case 2. I certainly do. I'm really glad to see part 2 coming to DVD, I could care less about part 3. (I bet Frank could too, but I would get a special edition DVD of 3 is it was released.)

Thats great news! Basket case 3 is on dvd already, just not a SE but it's on dvd at least, 2 isn't at all.

Thanks for the info Charles. While I'm impressed that they care so much about delivering a DVD with some quality extras, I kind of wish they would just release it already. As long as the audio & video are good, I'll be satisfied.

Pretty cool that the president of Synapse wrote you back directly. You don't see that kind of interaction very often.

Actually, it mentioned an uncensored release of BRAIN DAMAGE, not BASKET CASE.

Anywoo, I'm looking forward to getting part 2, as I've never seen it & love the original BASKET CASE.
I still got to find part 3 to get, as I want to see that one as well.

I got part 3 on DVD, nothing too special. But of course it's always great just to have it so you can say you have all 3.

So when they say "uncensored version of Brain Damage" does this mean they are doing a re-release of the other DVD that has since been out of print? Or is it a whole new DVD that contains scenes i've never seen before? Because i read that the DVD that came out previously is uncut as well. So im guessing this is just a re-release.
