My country showed Awakenings as a tribute to Robin Williams

I found it uncomfortable given the chronic diseases (which Parkinson was one) that was in the movie and the sad end :(

Sadder still his wife's claim has not been confirmed.

Tony Scott didn't have a brain tumor, and we shall see if Robin really had PD.

It seems to me she made that statement so people can say, "Oh, now his suicide makes sense."

It still doesn't.

He committed suicide because he was severely depressed. The fact that he had Parkinson's most likely just contributed to that. It's quite ridiculous to think she made it up just to give a reason. I mean really, where do you get off thinking that?

I vaguely recall the claim of Tony Scott being said to have a brain tumor, but just because that was not true does not mean Robin Williams' wife intentionally tried to publcly justfy his death by falsifying his medical condition. As we now know, Robin William did have a brain much like we would see in Parkinson's and dementia. He may have been diagnosed with Parkinson's, but the autopsy did show Lewy Body Disease, which are tangles that accumulate in the brain much like in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

It's strange how just this time last year, I had to write about dementias that tend to strike people in at least their 7th decade of life and then do a presetation for the class. Had it been this year, I'd probably have mentioned Robin Williams in my presentation, as his autopsy was news tjis past November, just as I did the assignment last year. One thing that news reports do not share is how these accumulations in the brain are fairly common and do not necessarily demonstrate symptoms in the person's life. However, it does appear Williams was experiencing such early symptoms, which included paranoia and disorganized thoughts. So his death may not have been to "end his future suffering," as many people assume. He may truly have lost touch with reality when he committed suicide. It's probably impossible to tell if he chose to end his life in a methotical way, to spare himself future disability, or if it was because he was not lucid. Nevertheless, it does appear Lewy Body Disease did play a significant part.
