You never go full retard.

Is this movie good? I'll watch it.

reply

De Niro goes pretty much full retard, then comes back, then goes away again. Didn't win an Oscar did he?

But maybe he was a dude playing a dude that's playing another dude.

reply

The whole "retard" thing cannot be applied to De Niro's character; he isn't mentally challenged - he's a catatonic patient, which means he is unable to move. This no Sean Penn failure, De Niro was amazing and believable as heck.

reply

Jesus, will that joke ever die? It was funny when Downey Jr. said it but now it's on every board where a character is challenged.

And no, doesn't apply for this movie. De Niro isn't mental.

reply

Love the Full Retard comment, especially for Sean Penn, but ehre it doesn't apply.

De Niro was 100% accurate in his performance according to the doctor who wrote the book this is based on. he treatedall these frozen patients for years, so I'll take his word anyday.

Anyone who thinks De Niro was going full retard has been blessed with not having to interact with Parkinsonian patients (or survivors of sleeping sickness for that matter).

'Retard' is an utterly vile word.

reply

Shut it, retard.

Here's a quarter. Now why don't you go downtown and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face?!?

reply

The word itself isn't vile. It is a valid word with a valid definition but those who use it in a slang manner are vile themselves.

reply

Absolutely. No one with a challenged person in his family would ever use such a vile word.

It could be that poster one day. Will he refer to himself that way?

reply

I have heard father call his son a retard. The son did struggle with education and was headstrong on occasions. However father had been for some years a drug and alcohol abuser and himself would have slipped down the IQ ladder. Young mans mother could hardly read and write either.

reply

'Retard' is an utterly vile word.

Not as vile as something I just thought up!

"Everyone is ignorant, only on different subjects". Will Rogers (1879-1935)

reply

I'll never understand you people. It's just a word, changing it to be something else won't change anything, it's a way to verbalise something and that's all. You can change the word to happy-pixie-stardust-sparkles and it'll still end the same way, because it's what the word defines that is being communicated. Eventually, whatever you name it, will be the term that is thrown around the same way.

reply

I agree with you, I don't see a problem with the word at all - if anything, the problem rather lies with the way people have become accustomed to using the word as an insult.

Retarded directly translated means nothing more than "delayed" - and in this context it's the mental development of a person that is "delayed". It is just a word that describes the mental state of these people, there was originally nothing vile or nasty about it.

reply

you can go "full"... just check out the dark knight boards.

Go away, or I shall taunt you a second time!

The character here was not retarded!

It's that man again!!
