One of the funniest scenes ever . . . (SPOILER ALERT)

. . . at least, to me. When the kids ignited a fire in the store basement. I laughed my head off. It reminded me of those scenes in LEAVE IT TO BEAVER where the Beav would do something unusually stupid, with dire consequences. I couldn't wait for him to get his comeuppance (although Ward would be, by the standards of my family, unusually lenient, so "punishment" would usually be a stern talking-to). Same with AVALON, only more so because the fire in the store was so huge and the expected consequences (one assumed) more dire.

When the kid's father showed up at the kid's grandparents' to pick the little "arsonist" up, I kept shouting to the dad, "BEAT HIS BUTT! BEAT HIS BUTT! BEAT HIS BUTT!" Of course, if you saw the movie, you know the kid got off the hook pretty much by luck. Which was disappointing.
