6/10 (better than the 1st one). Here's why:

Unlike most people, I think ANOTHER 48 HOURS is better than 48 HOURS. I know you all thought that the lighter tone made it look like a parody by comparison, but I felt it was a better fit for this type of story. The 1st installment was way darker than it needed to be. Also, Eddie Murphy is more... ”out of control” in this one, which is what he does best.

You can read comments of other movies (including the 1st installment) at http://vits-ingthemovies.blogspot.cl/2015/12/comments-round-up-november-2015.html

Any thoughts?

I actually felt the same way.

I watched both of these films for the first time last year, a couple months apart.

48 Hrs. was pretty good but felt a bit flat overall, no memorable scenes for me.

Another 48 Hrs. was a more entertaining flick for me. The tone is still pretty dark but it's more over-the-top and fun. Nolte and Murphy both give great, fun performances too. The "kill cam" shots are great. The only stuff that felt a bit "dated" were the handheld, in-your-face style close-ups like at the club at the end.

Maybe I was just in the right mood, but Another 48 Hrs. might be my second favorite Walter Hill film now (behind The Warriors, of course).

Another 48 Hours is without a doubt an awesome movie, but I still think the original is better. I think the gritty, noir-esque tone suits the material better and I liked that it spent a bit more time establishing characters, plot points, etc.
