Why didn't Cruise know about the Ice Man whacking Malcolm Price??

Cruise gets a call from Willy Hickcock demanding more money for the Ice Man whacking Malcolm Price.

HICKCOCK: There's been a change of plan. Killing one of us wasn't part of the plan.
CRUISE: What?
HICKCOCK: 50 Gs. That's the price for doing one of The Brotherhood.
CRUISE: What the hell are you talking about?
HICKCOCK: 50 Gs or we let Hammond finger you. (Typing that it sounds pretty disgusting!)

I know 50 mins was missing from the film but any ideas why Cruise didn't know? Obviously he and Kehoe were in on it together, they both picked up the gun from the track and Cruise busted Burrows last July and didn't mention it to Jack. You would have thought that Kehoe would have mentioned to Cruise, "Hey them bikers are gonna call you when they have Hammond but just know I killed the older one so they'll be pretty upset and might even try something like ask for more money."
