Always Remember I Love You (1990) + The Face on the Milk Carton (1995)

First off, I love Always Remember I Love You and The Face on the Milk Carton. They are both great movies. But have any of you noticed how they are both basicaly the same movie. In both movies the child was kidnapped and the "kidnap" parents had no clue. The child goes back to their real families for a while then they go back to the other set of parents. I just thought that was kind of weird. Anyone else notice that?

On the surface, they are the same story but while 'I Always Remeber I Love You' has the boy voluntarily quietly staying with his parents and dealing with the situation without his birth family knowing the truth, 'The Face on the Milk Carton' has the girl forcibly returned to her parents against her will and her family have to cope with their child not wanting to be there.

But I love both films for showing you can't just take teenager and dump them back with a family they don't know then expect things to work out.

Did you also notice that actor Richard Masur played the father of the kidnapped child in both movies?
Both movies are very enjoyable, considering the agonizing plots. The films might be fiction, but somewhere out there, something like this has happened to someone.

Richard Masur did great job in both Always remeber I love you and The Face on the Milk carton

I like both movies. They are pretty much the same. Except for a few plot differences. I have also seen similar plots on tv shows. Touched by an Angel had an episode about a couple with two sons. The older son later finds out the younger son was adopted and then finds out that his brother was kidnapped as a toddler by an adoption lawyer's henchman. The biological mother of the boy died before in a car accident sometime before the kidnapping and as result the biological father became depressed and bitter. Once the truth is revealed the biological dad sought custody but then withdrew after seeing that his son was happy with the family he knew. The plot has been used on soap operas several times.
