I liked this movie


it was sweet:) I watched it in my teens on PBS one day and thought it was a beautiful movie. Sad but beautiful.

Hi Rosemarywater - I just watched this movie (rented it) and I am confused about the final scene. Why did the money trader's ear start bleeding? Also, are we supposed to think that it killed him? Janet

Looks like he had a brain aneurysm or something like that. Maybe the stress of the job - the emptiness in his life - no love.

I see you wrote this in Feb. If you have left since then and never return this post would be a little like Gordon's life. One out of millions of lost, unheard efforts reaching out to someone no longer there...

In this case just to share a moment of agreement and appreciation that someone else saw the beauty within this film.

This movie haunted me for so long. I had wished to know the name of the film as I had watched as a little girl late at night. I love New York.

And years later -- maybe a marriage or two, kids, none of that, a career change, something or nothing -- I'll just add that I agree. I saw the film when it was shown at Sundance in (early) 1991, and a lot of people (I was one of them) thought it could've won the Grand Jury Prize.
