The Air America Theme Song....

I have been looking all over for the theme song that plays when Gene and Billy first take the Pilatus Porter up for a flight...It starts when they're taking off...it was a great instrumental piece that I can't find anywhere..could somebody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Try these. This is the tracklist from the motion picture soundtrack, released 1990.

1. Love Me Two Times - Aerosmith
2. Right Place Wrong Time - B.B. King/Bonnie Raitt
3. Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress - Charlie Sexton
4. Do It Again - Steely Dan
5. Free Ride - Edgar Winter/Rick Derringer
6. California Dreamin - Mamas And Papas
7. Baby, I Need Your Lovin' - Four Tops
8. Get Ready - The Temptations
9. Rescue Me - Fontella Bass
10. Pushin' To Hard - The Seeds

I'm pretty sure the 'theme' you are thinking about is Right Place Wrong Time, but I could be wrong - I haven't seen the film in many years!

Air America has a wonderful soundtrack.

I'm also puzzled this film doesn't have more message board activity. It's one of the best plane / aviation films ever! Great fun. :)

The song that plays as the farmer shoots the left engine of the plane right at the start of the movie is Free Ride - Edgar Winter/Rick Derringer

The theme song that I remember is an instrumental that isn't on the soundtrack album

which is the song that starts with the line "Saturday night i was downtown, working for the FBI"?
Whenever i start to recall it, i go imediately into CCR - Run Throught the Jungle, which tho isn't on the soundtrack, is featured in the film.

A very important song was missing from that motion picture soundtrack of Air America and as its a famous song im shocked it's not on there. I think it was played on the Air America trailer, and it was used at the bar scene when Mel says he is leaving his job and heading home to his wife.

Its a beautiful song and a pure classic. How dare these idiots who create the soundtrack cd's keep leaving the best songs out.

AMERICA : Horse With No Name.

Pure classic.

Yeah the two old guys sing it, great tune. I think it's in a different scene tho, but then again i haven't ssen it in ages. I do recall they were in the posh restaurant with the slightly camp owner and the Senator was visiting.

Have seen there is a special edition of the film on Region 1. Does anyone know how good this disc is? Is it worth gettin or should i just go for the region 2 disc with nowt on it?

reply

Yeah those 2 asian guys are singing the horse with no name, quite a funny scene that lol.

But there is a part at the bar when Gibson and Downey Jr are talking, you can hear the actuall real song being played on a juke box in the background.

Sh*t, i didn't know that Neil.

Where in Cardiff are you? I'm in St. Athan, just beyond Barry, but u probably know where St. Athan is without me tellin you that, sorry :)

reply

Hehehehe. Its ok mate lol. Yeah I love St Athan. Was real gutted years ago when they canceled the air show displays :(

I also like going to Llantwit Major beach round the corner from you, lovely down there on a summers day like were having now. I am in Whitchurch mate, not the mental hospital though lol. It's at the top end of Cardiff bout 5 mins from the big Fly Over Bridge " Gabalfa Interchange ".

It's Cool though i'm talking to a fellow Neighbour from South Wales. :)

The scene with the song A Horse With No Name was so funny.
By the way, I think Get Ready was by Rare Earth?

Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter is also int he movie I think. It was a few years ago I saw it so I might be wrong.

reply

What I found to be absolutely hilarious is that most of the songs were not released yet at the time this story was to have taken place.

Typical Hollywood, does anyone check thier facts, I guess not, thanks Hollywood for making us feel like idiots.
