1969 ? OK, sure.

Man whoever did wardrobe/hair/makeup/art direction etc really screwed the pooch on this one - it looked exactly like the year it was shot - what a joke

I agree. It didn't seem like 1969 to me either.

In 1987, I don't think it was as noticable as it is now. Nobody in the movie looks like someone from 1969.

reply

Yeah it does.

The only people who really looked out of place were the main stars (RDJ and MG). Everyone else looked prefect, Art LaFleur has always looked great in movies that take place in the past. Tim Thomerson had a time period perfect mustache and soul patch. Like I said, I think all of the supporting cast looked excellent, in fact, it has such a cast of great character actors. IMO, that's usually what makes a great movie, the great character actors like the ones in this film.

Not everyone had facial and long hair in the sixties. They both wore jeans right through the movie a la 60's. They were living and working in the tropics. I didn't think they looked out of place at all.🐭

I said the same thing while I was watching it when I spotted Robert Downey Jr.'s "punkied" up hair towards the end.

Air America was basically an 80s set movie set in 1969.
