Now dont say no...have any of you guys seen Scarface...I have seen both this and Scarface....In wikipedia check for Agneepath...Right from the start... they say it is a rip off of Scarface..........SO MUCH FOR ORIGINALITY..

shareI would'nt call a rip off, the biggest thing both movies have in common is the white suit and the scene where he goes to meet his mum and sister!
I'll list some of the reasons why i don't think it's a rip off
Opening
Scarface: Tony is in a US detention centre and commits murder to get out of there.
Angeepath: Vijay's dad "a teacher" is framed by Dinkar Rao and killed by the Mandwa locals, home is burnt down and his family find themselves living in Mumbai street.

30 minutes into the movie
Scarface: Tony and co go to do their 1st drug in a motel room and encounters a woman with a machine gun and get to see his freind get choped in half with a chainsaw.
Agneepath: Vijay works as a shoe shine boy supporting his family and observes his future bosses setting up a failed hit on Kancha Cheena. he also starts to demostate that he won't take any *beep* from anyone who messes with him.

1 hour into the movie
Scarface: Tony rises up the drug dealer ranks and eventually is ordered to be shot by his own boss. He then kills his boss and a "bad" cop then takes over the business while having the hots for his ex boss girl!
Agneepath: Vijay is friendly with a "good" cop, does not have any interest in the drugs business and get shot by "5" of his bosses and is taken to hospital by a fruit cart vendor (K A Y Y )and survives after an operation... meanwhile he stars to get the hots for his nurse... who is definetly not a cocane snorting hooker.

2 hours into the movies
Scarface: Tony now the undisputed king of the drug world, his sister is loving the drugs and the rich life style. she sleeps with tony best friend Manolo, when tony finds out, he kills manolo. Tony also get busted for tax evasion.
Agnepath: Vijay goes for revenge and one by one kill all 5 of his bosses ( best mud fight ever) and then befreind Kanhca Cheena. he also becomes a father and is not busted for anything illegal through out the movie. he also catches his sister fooling around with her new boyfriend K A Y Y and is anygry, but doesn ot kill him.
Where is the rip off?
from this point onward, all the way to the end where vijay runs through the fire.... there is nothing that would demonstrate that it's a rip off.... It is very original in most parts.
The movies background music is also nothing to do with Scarface, In Agneepath, the director ripped of French musician Jean Micheal Jarrs music for most of the film.... which was an excellent touch... it's not the same music used in Scarface.
here here Agneepath is far from a rip off...a couple of similar scenes but thats understandable as Scarface and Agneepath are gangster movies theres bound to be some similarity.
shareTo completely deny it's not a rip off probably not true, I would definitely like to believe it is an inspiration at least. As far as the changes mentioned above regarding him being the son of a teacher and then became a don because of the injustice done to him, all that is cultural and social setting required as the viewers of India and US are very different. In India for a protagonist they always justify he didn't want to be a bad man society forced him to, this helps a lot in creating sympathy for the lead among Indian viewers, which otherwise not likely to sympathize if the leading man was born wanting to be a bad man.
Other points regarding cocaine snorting wife and other things should also be seen in the light of social differences and acceptability in India, some of the places like the dinner in hotel actually don't need any social garnishing as the difference of good and old is very basic to both the societies. Now I know how big the names behind this movie are I just wonder if the director or actors actually watched the movie before they started shooting. The body language and getup of Amitabh Bacchan here looks quite similar to that off Montana.

shareI am with the majority on this one and state that Agneepath is not a rip-off of Scarface. Perhaps not entirely so, there are scenes that seem to be directly lifted.
Its a poor rip off. Scarface is so god damn better than this one. I used to love this movie when i was little but watched it again last night and found it horribly poor in terms of plot.
I mean how can Alok Nath gets lynched by same villagers who themselves used to visit that Kotha? I mean its clearly evident in movie that lot of villagers visit the place but suddenly if Alok Nath goes there its all hell broke lose on him and his family.
Then we have Mr. Amitabh (who is one of the greatest actors of bollywood no doubt) who knowingly conspiracy against him still goes out and gets shot at. I mean really? How can a intelligent person buy that? That is a massive plot hole and make Vijay look like a dumb.
I have yet to finish the movie so will bring rest of it if there other hair pulling plot holes.
Now i hope remake is a dark and serious movie and they do away with these stupid plot holes.

the whole devil may care evil dude thing maybe inspired from scarface, but the script is so different, that after seeing scarface (one of my favorite movies EVER) I didnt see ANY similarity !
hopefully the remake wont have vijay as a dumb ass who declares his assassination date and then goes to attend it!
