Ouch!!!! Karan Johar planing a remake!

Sad news, According to the rumors, Karan Johar of all people is planning to do an Angeepath remake and to top it off he is using a panzy like Hritik Roshan to play the the role of VDC.

it's going to be awful. I am not saying a remake is a bad idea, in fact, i would look forward to seeing such an attempt, but it needs to be dark, gritty and made by a director who has a good track record in this genre like RGV...

Karan Johar will turn a classic into cheesefest full of ott special effects and dance numbers, just like he did with Don.

It will only be a good flick if he took the following into consideration;

Make a prequel -
We want to see Vijay from the age of 13-30, how he climbed up the ranks in the world of organized crime, throw in a good criminal mentor that takes him under his wings.

Actors -
Hitrik Roshan...come on now! he should use Abhishek and failing that some young unknown talent from the streets if he goes with a prequel idea. The supporting cast must also be very much like the originals actors in their mannerisms. Krishnan MA, Terelin, Osman Bhai, Kancha Cheena, Bob the Gora, all these characters need to be spot on...

background soundtrack -
If they have the balls, try ripping off Jean Micheal Jaare's music for old times sake, his music made the original what it is.

have to disagree with you about Hrithik Roshan. if there's any hope for this project, it will be because he's involved. not sure what a "panzy" is, but he's an awesome actor who upstages abishek at every turn and even in real life.

reply

I disagree, when it comes to casting someone for a Amitabh's role in a agneepath remake, Hitrik Roshan's name is not even worthy of being written on the same piece of paper, even Sharuk Khan just about managed to wing his way as Don due to his huge popularity.

An epic bollywood "gangster" flick requires a solid actor who can own the screen in all his scenes, Hitrik is primarily a pretty boy/dancer type actor!

The reason why i think it is going to be a flop is because neither Karan Johar nor Hitrik Rohan will resist the opportunity to destroy the Vijay Chohan character by making him shake his booty in cheesy dance numbers at least once in this destruction of this classic film!

reply

I disagree. Hrithk Roshan is a great actor that can act with a lot of range. However, Karan Johar is one of my least favourite directors.

reply

Well, guess what? Karan Johar isn't directing this, he's producing it.

reply

you obviously hate hrithik...

every star has his own space, dilip kumar, dev anand, rajesh khanna, amitabh, SRK , aamir, hrithik (the latest superstar)

sure SRK remade Don, doesnt mean he wants to take over amitabh's legacy, amitabh shined as the simpleton vijay turned police informer, SRK shined as the evil and slick Don who survied the ordeal and killed vijay!

same way hrithik's vijay chauhan will be very diffrent than amitabh's character...

and dont think he has a peppy dance number... they are not that dumb...

Even if they cast Aamir Khan, I am not going to watch the remake. Sure, the original had its flaws but there are moments of absolute brilliance which make it a classic. "Main gunda nahi hoon ma" is something that needs to be shot into space for eternal glory.

Well trailer for the new adaptation is out for those interested:

I think it looks pretty exciting. Then again it's only a 1:30 min trailer, so we'll have to see. =)
I think it's more of a tribute or a spiritual successor than a real remake.

Also,

Karan Johar will turn a classic into cheesefest full of ott special effects and dance numbers, just like he did with Don.

The Don remake was produced and directed by Farhan Akhtar and was also not distributed by Dharma Productions. I don't think Karan Johar had much to do with it.
