Extremely funny!

Honestly, my film instructor showed this film during class.

I had prior knowledge about Beat, but I =wasn't a true fan.

Hands down, this was a damn entertaining film.

This is how you do comedy. I love his static shots. His minimal use of music. I love the slap-stick nature of the characters. Everything about this movie was absurd, and damn it, that's OK in my book!

Yes, it was a very amusing film. but it's far from Kitano's best.

my favourite part is when that biker gets the head butts.

My memory is shot but one really funny scene was when the baseball coach randomly decides to chase someone for accusing him of cheating.

This is Kitano's most funny film. It has a sick and sometimes disgusting humour throughout all of its (even most violent) scenes which is never pointless, exactly because he does not use humour in a manipulative way. This kind of "innocent" deadpan humour runs throughout "Sonatine" as well, only there it is combined with a feeling of loss and melancholia, foreshadowing "Hana-bi".

I also think David Lynch or Stanley Kubrick are great (underrated) comedians, but people seem to miss even the point in Kitano's work, who is a known stand-up comedian, and tend to describe him as an "artsy" depicter of violence. I think the Coen-Brothers would envy Kitano for "boiling point".

I know this is his second film as a director. But I prefer his first film Violent Cop. Its bleak and unpredictable. Kikujiro is way funnier than Boiling Point. The poster deceived me, Kitano just played a homo* yakuza role, he appeared in 1/3 of the film. And the horse-liked face guy waste my time.

I agree, funny film but geniously hand to hand with drama and dark tones. I love it!

true :) (well Kikujiro was funny too and i'm sure others had their moments but yeah IMDB should definetely add a comedy tag as well. Sure it has action and drama elements as well.
