I liked this film alot, but theres one thing i don't get, at the end when masaki drives the oil truck into the building how come we then see him again playing baseball?

I just watched it, and from what I gather, none of it really happened. It was just him day dreaming while in the port-o-potty.

It isn't a perfect explaination because one would think that if he was imagining the whole thing, he wouldn't have been such an anti-hero (screws up playing baseball, can't work a gun, etc.). I'll have to watch it again.

thanks for that, yea maybe he was daydreaming and with the "screws up playing baseball, can't work a gun, etc" maybe thats how he imagined himself...a bit of a loser/screw up.

Good point. That makes sense too.

Did you find it odd that in the bar scene in Okinawa, Takeshi's character breaks a bottle over another guy's head twice in the exact same manner with his friend jumping in afterward? I had to watch that scene a few times.

Absolutely hilarious.

I had to watch it twice cos it made me cry with laughter.

You've gotta remember that Kitano is best known as a comedian in Japan and that scene is pure physical comedy.

It was all a daydream. Personally I loved that twist. The movie was good but it all just felt so off-the-wall, so random and weird, and I think the twist that it was all just the daydream of a bored guy on the john really brought it back down to earth, explained everything and made it even funnier than it already was.
