Jack was with Sylvia first and now Peter (???)

I recall seeing this yrs ago and that kinda confused me since I understood Jack to be Marys biological dad (i.e. him and Sylvia were together at one point) and now his friend Jack is in love with her.

Kind shocked that there was no scene or discussion between the two men about that. Or was there and I just don't recall it?

As explained in the first movie Jack and Sylvia only had a one night stand, they were never actually a couple.

Also, Jack had suspected for some time that Peter was in love with Sylvia, and confronted Peter with it when he arrived in England. The two of them do have a discussion, and Peter says that part of the reason he has been reluctant to confess his feelings for Sylvia is because of her prior relationship with Jack. Jack assures Peter that while he has love for Sylvia (as a friend and the mother of his daughter), he isn't in love with her. That clears the way for Peter to pursue her.

You just don't recall it. There's a whole scene between Jack an Peter right after Jack arrives at Edward's in England.
