I remember crying when I heard that. I never saw him in anything else except as a doctor in one episode of "Porridge" but "WFG" made him a real star to me. RIP.

If you want to see him in other things he has quite big parts in the Tom Baker, Doctor Who story "The Horns of Nimon", and the Frankie Howard film "Up the Chastity Belt".

Eccentric history master in "if."

My belated condolences for his family. He was a fantastic actor, and made the character of Tom Ballard his own. Irreplaceable.

That's sad to hear. I had no idea that he was no longer with us. I only remember seeing him in this but he was certainly a very talented actor who gave his character a great deal of depth and dimension and he helped make the show what it was. Thoughts, prayers, condolences and sympathies to his family and all those who knew and loved him
