Norma (secret history) SPOILERS

I haven't read the whole book yet, so please no spoilers past this point if possible, but I am extremely disappointed by Norma's story not being in canon with the show. I don't know if the rest of the book explains it (unlikely), but what the hell is up with Norma?

Not all of Norma and Ed's history made sense with the little that was told in the actual show, but what really bothered me is that Norma's mother had died previously...so who was that horrible hag she told off in season two?

To be a mistake this seems too obvious or easy to make...but now I don't want to keep reading.

Thoughts?

Mark Frost said that it will be revealed in time

Sounds...I don't know. I'm still baffled and disappointed.

Did he say that about just Norma and/or other possible inconsistencies?

reply

The other thing he is consistently saying at book signings is that Lana is Miss Twin Peaks 1989.
No word yet on all the other inconsistencies ie half the book! /popcorn gif

Time? What time? When? In Time? WTF does that mean?

She has a kind of psychiatric cabaret. Very good. There was something about Suez.

reply

In a parallel world where time runs differently relative to that of Twin Peaks.

crazy idea but what if showtime is going to air some re-edited version of the orginal episodes approved by lynch and frost?

reply

What a horrible idea (IMO)! That's all we need; Lynch and Frost going George Lucas on us.

I could imagine this being okay if there were some changes made into old facts/canon because of, say, time travel or alternate universes and if it was well done, and if it was a seamless part of this new season...but to mess with the perfection that is Twin Peaks as we know it...a horrifying thought!
