shareI'll trust David Lynch to know what he's doing. He has previously used musicians in small (Marilyn Manson in Lost Highway) and larger (Chris Isaak and David Bowie in Fire Walk with Me) roles; it's a thing he likes to do. I'm sure they won't get much screentime. As for Cera, Lynch is terrific at soliciting interesting performances from generally terrible/mediocre actors.
Michael J. Anderson elected not to do the show because he felt he deserved more money that they were asking - which, for an actor who hasn't worked in the past ten years, is probably not the best idea. He lost the job for himself.
I didn't realize Anderson wouldn't be in it. That's a pity for such an iconic role. I don't know what's the problem with Cera, either. The original series had far worse actors than him.
