The Great Depression and WWII

Since Talespin took place in the 1930s, when the Great Depression was going on, WWII started in 1939. How do you think the two affected Baloo, Kit, Higher For Hire, Louie's, and Khan Industries? Do you think all of them would've gone bankrupt? Would Baloo be working harder hauling cargo for the war effort? Would Kit be enlisted (when he's 16)? Would H4H get more business during the war?

What do you guys think?

It was set in the 30's era but not necessarily in the 30's. It's more a take on 1930's serials (Tarzan, Zoro, Dick Tracey, the Lost City). During The Depression films were something to take your mind off what was going on outside. As such very few things at the cinema were reflective of modern times. So in a sense it's set in an alternate universe, where they have the technological advancements of the 30's without The Depression or fascists.

Kahn Industries would switch over to making war materials. Baloo and Louie might be too old to serve. Higher for Higher might have gotten some kind of government contract, so that Baloo would work for the war effort state-side. The war started in 1939, but the US didn't declare war until 1941, when Kit would have been 18. Kit would have totally joined the Air Force. I can see Molly working for the USO in the U.S, or volunteering at a canteen.
