Jim Kipp disappeared which made it very interesting about this!

Ok if you followed the show why in the world create a character if you are not going to keep him onto the show. My theory is by getting rid of Jim Kipp they introduce a couple of new characters like Abbigail and Jesse who is the half brother of Jimmi.

This is not the first time that this has happened on shows before. I just thought I would bring this up which is very interesting.

The way I understood it the character of Jim Kipp was supposed to be an older adolescent (about the age of Jesse) but it was decided to make the character younger to attract the kid viewers. The character Jim Kipp turned the Swamp Thing fans off big-time (the same way the hard core Star Trek fans couldn't stand Wesley Crusher), so Jim was written out of the script and replaced by Jesse.

Oh ok that makes perfect sense then. It was a good move but when you get use to a character in ways it can be a bad thing to do though because I was in high school at the time when this came out and I became use to Jim Kipp and then when they added Kerie Weher I thought she was hot!

That is not the exact truth but that is the reported truth leaving a lot of in betweens out.

What actually happened was young actor Jesse Zeigler got accepted into the gifted program in his Florida middle school and was no longer able to film the grueling schedule required for the series.

Season 1 was filmed in the Summer on location in the "jungles" of Florida for 12 hours a day filming approximately 2 episodes a week then aired that Fall from September thru November 1990. When the show became a success and more episodes were ordered for a 2nd season, Jesse Zeigler had just got accepted into the gifted program at his middle school.

Filming for the 2nd season which was to begin airing in February 1991 required filming to be done in the Fall of 1990 before the holidays but by then Jesse was well into his gifted program schooling and had to bow out from the series.

THAT was when they decided to changed the show to it's more darker roots because Jesse was no longer able to film the series so they had no choice but to write him out. He was definitely not fired like the reported story makes it seem. lol

Thanks for letting me know what happened to Jesse Zeigler's part on the show. What they could have done was what they did on Baywatch with David Haselhoff's son. I cannot remember the name of the actor who played the original son on the show, but he moved on to play JT on Step By Step. See from what I understand about Baywatch is that David Haselhoff did not like the idea that his son was growing almost as tall as him so they went with a younger actor to play the role. They could have searched for another actor to play the role of Jesse Zeiglers role you know. That is what I might have done. I know it would have been a risk for the show and all because ratings could have dropped, but if the audience really loves the show then they would ignore the new young actor. A lot of TV shows will do this.

I have seen it happen back during the 80's and 90's with One Life To Live with the main character Tina who was played by more than one actress.

Yes I liked his character as well on the show. I agree that it was not written well for him to get taken out of the show like they did.
