DVD edits?

I was just rewatching SC for the millionth time, and noticed lines missing that were originally in either the TV or VHS version.

S P O I L E R S

When Jill first meets Aslan by the stream, he says he has a task "for which I called you and the boy out of your own world." Originally, Jill hesitates, then when prompted says something like 'nobody called us; we decided to come', to which Aslan replies "You would not have been calling to me unless I had been calling to you."

Near the end, when Rillian, Eustace, Jill and Puddleglum confront the Green Lady, as she challenges them on whether their world is real or not, rather than just saying "the sun is but a children's story", she first asks what this 'sun' is. Rillian grasps the lantern thing and says it is like this lamp: it is round and giveth light, but much greater and brighter.

Why the edits? (This sort of thing irks me to no end.) Were there others I missed?

It was definitely there at some point, I have no doubt, because I remember it quite vividly, and I've not reread the book in a long time, so I certainly don't remember anything from it that wasn't in the movie. I'll have to try to find my taped-off-TV copy - I hope I didn't get rid of it when I first got my 'real' VHS ones!

I always found it to be a compelling bit, because it's goes more into her challenging whether they've imagined everything or not. I think it works better when she pretends she's never even heard such a word.

There was also more cut from that first scene with Aslan and Jill, where Jill says Eustace was talking about a certain someone, with a name she couldn't remember, and hoping they'd let him come back. When Aslan says "You would not have been calling to me unless I had been calling to you," Jill responds "You mean, sir, that you were the someone?"

I just watched this last night and thought the same thing but wasn't sure, and coming on here confirms it. This is why I love imdb. It's also something that drives me insane, these seemingly random edits when they transfer things to different mediums! The only thing I can think is that they trimmed it to fit on DVD, but that's ridiculous since they had enough room for a frigging *trivia game* ha ha. Hmm.

Nilbog! It's goblin spelled backwards! This is their kingdom!
