When Paul Benedict (the actor who played Bentley on the Jeffersons) died in 2008, the Web site tvland.com remembered the character this way: “Before Seinfeld had Kramer, George Jefferson had Harry Bentley; the affable Englishman who lived next-door to the Jeffersons.” Apparently you have some company from TV sitcom experts on your observation. I think Benedict has a guest appearance in a Seinfeld episode but I can’t remember which one or the character he played
