Will Generation Z like this?

Like "I Love Lucy" eventually a sit com will run it's course and not be watched by newer generations. (I am a gen xer and I don't watch ILL)

So is Senfield still watchable/relatable to Gen Z?( kids in high school and college now)

reply

I don't think so. As time goes by more and more apps like Netflix/Hulu are going to keep getting bigger, plus even more will come along. All of which will keep these shows alive by having them available for people to re-watch and introduce to younger generations. As a 90s Kid I absolutely loved shows from the 50s and 60s. Btw, I'm sure I love Lucy is doing just fine on Hulu.

reply

Does Hulu publish viewer #'s for shows?

reply

Not sure but they have all the classic stuff presented well enough for whoever to see it and click on it whenever.

Especially on the video game consoles. Before you even click on the Hulu app there's a list of recommended stuff for Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Tubi, etc that constantly gets updated.

Maybe there's similar lists on other ways of watching these things too, but I'm just going by how I personally find stuff sometimes.

I think it might even gain further popularity. Seinfeld main characters are overall quite cynical and detached, and acting cynical and detached is quite fashionable among GenZ folks.
The only trait Seinfeld main cast lacks, to be fully appealing to GenZ, is a generic social edginess. Like George shouting alt-right slurs, or, I don't know, Kramer marching against binary gender-based culture. Not that the latter would necessarily be a bad thing, but you get the picture.

reply

P.S: besides, George's and Kramer's quirky personas and stances are made to become very successful memes.

reply

Yes memes, I didn't think of that.... people want to know their origin.

reply

Who gives a crap what they like?

reply

Business

reply

Interesting question which leads to how many older sitcoms are discovered by a new generation.

reply

With the internet/YouTube etc..it is easier than ever. So perhaps this show will last a bit longer than Lucy.

"Friends" just is now having a sort of rebirth.

I Love Lucy/ Honeymooners are the two biggest of all time, have pretty much faded out now.

The Three Stooges is my fav oldie, but that was not made for TV.

reply

it is the best sitcom of all time, and didnt rely heavily on current pop culture references. it will the stand test of time.

reply

1. ITS SITCOM,NOT "SIT COM"
2. I WAS BORN IN 81 AND GREW UP WATCHING LUCY
3. GENERATION Z LOVE "KITSCHY OLD SHIT"

reply

Situation Comedy.

There ...we both win.

CONGRATULATIONS.
