The Red Dot

The one thing I never got about that episode is, why didn't George just lie to Lippman about having sex with the cleaning woman? When Lippman asks him if he did it, he could have just lied and said "No, she's lying never happened".

George lies all the time, so why would he admit it? Of course, it wouldn't have been as funny because then we wouldn't have George's "Was that wrong"? dialogue, but it's something I've always wondered.

The thing I never got about that episode was, why didn't someone just take a pair of scissors or nail clippers and just snip the red dot off? But there again, we wouldn't have had a funny episode if they had done that.

reply

Wouldn’t that make a hole?

reply

I suppose so. I guess it would depend on how deep into the knit that the dot was situated.

reply

It would have likely gotten her fired. George is a selfish jerk but he wouldn’t go that far... at least not with sex involved.

reply

But why didn't she get fired for the sex?

reply

Now that's a good question. The employer might have had sympathy for her as she was an immigrant who had a janitorial position. She could have told a sob story about how George seduced her under false pretenses (which isn't too far from the truth). I forgot what George's position was at that company but he was at a higher paygrade, so it makes sense that George might get fired while the cleaning lady might've just gotten a warning or something. Shit rolls uphill as they say.

I also think that she probably wasn't an employee of the publishing company, but rather an independent cleaning service hired by the building management. Lippman could have told her boss however.

How did they find out about George having sex with the cleaning woman ... and who cares?
