nbc should have forced a cross episode of cheers and seinfeld
would have been terrific and a tv highlight
sharewould have been terrific and a tv highlight
shareIt would've been Must-See TV! I'll bet Ted Danson put the Kibosh on the idea.
sharethey could have done a episode where kramer gets 4 tickets from bob sacamano for a knicks-celtics game at the garden
except the tickets are fraud.
jerry and the gang are fighting and they end up at cheers
i can just see it now
jery and rebecca flirting which makes sam jealous.
kramer and woody would be terrific
frasier could analyze george
cliff and norm could try to play pranks on the gang and carla and elaine could snap off at each other
"You have the Cheers gang at one end of the bar and the Seinfeld gang at the other end"
"And then what?"
"Nothing!"
"Nothing? You have to have something happen"
"No. Nothing happens. It's a show about nothing. But everybody knows your name. That's the show!"
A Seinfeld/Cheers crossover would've been great to see :)
Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Pete Townshend watch My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
But the fictional "George," of "Seinfeld," met George Wendt, the real actor who played the fictional "Norm" from "Cheers," the TV show. This could have caused serious problems in the TV/Real world continuum that we live in.
shareI think I understand this. Jason Alexander is real. His TV show is not. Now, you, George Costanza, are real. But your life is George Wendt's. Now "Cheers," which is real, takes you to places that, while they are real, they are not real in sense that they did not 'really' happen to the real Norm Peterson played by George Wendt from that two-part "Seinfeld" episode, which is not you.
"'Extremely High Voltage.' Well, I don't need safety gloves, because I'm Homer Simpson...BZZZZZZZZzzzzz--" - Frank Grimes
But Kramer was also in an episode of Mad About You as Kramer putting both of those shows in the same universe. Yet, years later, Jerry was on Mad About You as the real life Jerry, thereby acknowledging that the sitcom Seinfeld is fictional. So if they can play it both ways with Mad About You, then they can play it both ways with Cheers.
FYI, Helen Hunt and her friend were also in an episode of Friends as their characters, as was Phoebe's sister in both shows, so that connects Friends and Seinfeld by rule of the transitive property.
Transitive property? How long you been waiting to squeeze that into a thread?
That's perverse!
"Get out here, son! There's a doin's a transpirin'!!"
No, sounds like a lame gimmick! Not Seinfeld's style.
Actually NBC attempted to do a crossover with their Thursday block. Although Cheers was done by then. They wanted to have a blackout spread through New York. It started on Mad About You. I want to say Ira caused the blackout trying to steal cable. Then Chandler on Friends was stuck at that ATM due to the blackout.
As for our beloved Seinfeld? There was no blackout in their universe. Jerry was all set to have face melting sex with Katya.
Dalton and Craig! Accept NO substitutes!
Wow! Great memory! I had forgotten about that gimmick. Here's a link that mentions the blackout crossover on NBC's "Must-See TV":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_About_You#Crossovers
BTW, it indicates that it was Paul's wife Jamie who caused the blackout, and that the plot continued into that night's episode of Madman of the People after being skipped over by Seinfeld.
They were pretty rough, but they had something.
What was it?
I think it was the trousers.
Thanks! It is funny how the most random useless stuff stays with me.
Oh, okay it was Jaime who was the culprit! It seemed more like an Ira move. I do not think I ever saw Madman of the People.
Dalton and Craig! Accept NO substitutes!
But Mad About You and Friends is in the same universe you know. Ursula is a character on both shows.
And Seinfeld HAS crossed-over (ok, Kramer did) with Mad About You

.and then the bong hits him on the head and he falls RIGHT over the realitY
Well as far as NBC was concerned they are on their network and in NY, thus all shows are in the same universe! Glad Seinfeld decided to decline.
Cosmo "Conrad" Kramer was on Mad About You? The only sort of "crossover" I recall was when Steven Snell was working for Murphy Brown.
Dalton and Craig! Accept NO substitutes!
