I think Felicity would've been happier married to Arthur!

I know Gus and Felicity were a cute couple as young teenagers, but as Felicity became an adult I think she grew away from Gus. Meanwhile Arthur matured more in the later seasons. It seemed as if he became a perfect match for Felicity. Gus laughed at Felicity's dreams and left her to sail off somewhere. Arthur had always been supportive of women pursuing their own goals(both with Sara and Felcity). He became a doctor himself. He had much more in common with her. Felicity said she wanted more than ironing Gus' socks. With Arthur, she could've married him and gone on to medical school with his support. Gus didn't seem to want to stand for such a thing.

I don't really know since I haven't seen all the episodes yet. I'm up to the first of Season 5 right now. I just know from what I've seen of Arthur that I prefer Gus myself. And I always felt in the early shows like she and Gus would belong together. I don't know, maybe it's just because I would pick Gus if it were me. ;)

I think the Felicity/Gus relationship pretty much mirrors the Anne/Gilbert relationship. They grow up together, go off on their own for awhile to pursue their ambitions, and eventually realize they belong together. Both Felicity and Anne date other men, but realize that they don't love these men as deeply as they love Gus or Gilbert. It's this idea (to paraphrase Anne from the movie) "I went outside myself looking for my ideals when here they were right in front of me all along."

I really like Gus originally but didn't like him in the end. It seemed forced to me, and there was very little chemistry between Felicity and Gus.
I preferred Stuart.
