shareYes, it's a sort of sequel/spinoff of AOGG. Several characters from the movies appear in this show like Marilla Cuthburt, Rachel Lynde, Muriel Stacy and (in one episode) Gilbert Blythe. I think it can be watched on its own though. I started watching it when I was quite young,before I watched AOGG.
ETA: I forgot to say that while some characters from AOGG appear, they are only supporting characters. Most of the major characters come from another one of L.M. Montgomery's books: The Story Girl and it's sequel The Golden Road.
