Would this work as a motion picture?
I mean, it's not a terrible idea. The premise is genuinely intriguing, I just think some of the execution and elements were corny and off. I just think a little tweaking and re-structuring. Little less time on the home strife and more time mocking the myths associated with spy games. And the depiction of the CIA Agent McLean is a little too trite and cliche.
I don't know if the same actors would do well. Were they somewhat younger, but I have a hard time seeing anyone but Clive Francis as the sardonic, uptight Morris Drummond or Michael Percival as the simple-but-good-bloke Dexter. I am sure other actors could do those roles justice, but sometimes you have a particular fondness for a particular portrayal.
May peculiarity tame the norm.
