native ceremonies, music, etc.: how authentic?

Would be interested in reading feedback on the depiction of native dance, mythology, ritual, medicine, and so forth on this wonderful series.

I wouldn't doubt Elaine Miles had something to do with it. She is of Cayuse/Nez Perce ancestry and is heavily traditional regarding her heritage. She still attends pow-wows and has won awards with her native dancing.

There's a site http://www.moosechick.com/ put together by a fan with quite a bit of information on the individual episodes. I had a question similar to the OP's and I've found a few things there but I don't know if there's one place where this information is brought together.

Thanks! I'll check it out.

My grandmother was Native (grew up on the reservation, was sent to a federal "Indian boarding school" called Haskell) and my mother, who also identifies as Native (I don't), was director of American Indian Affairs at her university. I have a second cousin in the American Indian Dance Troupe. My mom always loved this show and said it was accurate and respectful to Native peoples in ways unlike any other show on TV.
