DVD Release?

Anybody know anything about this coming out on DVD?

I'd never heard of it, and mum hadn't either... but her friend asked her about it this morning.

Any info would be great: cheers!

I just came to this board ask exactly the same question, I've still got a couple of episodes on tape from when it was originally run but as it was never advertised very well I managed to miss most of them. This would be a perfect candidate for DVD release, the small cast and 'ship in a bottle' format will have saved it from dating obviously and I think it could become a real cult hit.

On Robert Lindsay's official site, he has said that Nightingales should be released on DVD towards the end of this year.

Cheers!

I've waited years to see this again... If ever a show deserved a DVD release, it's this one.

Robert Lindsay site now states the DVD will be out "the first quarter of next year". :)

The only listing I can find for the DVD release only mentions the first six episodes (series one) - anyone know any different yet?

There's nobody here but us chickens...

reply

Yes. Its both series in one release.

6th March 2006 - £9.99 from play.com

reply

Wow! This is fabulous news! I can't wait!!!

reply

I'm hoping Play.com's descripition is wrong. It only lists 6 episodes (both series should equal 13 if my memory is correct). And if there are 6 episodes with total play time of 1 hour 35 min, that makes each episode just under 16 minutes each. I has been a very long time since a friend showed a couple to me, but that doesn't seem right. If there are 13 episodes that makes them just more than 7 minutes long!

reply

Me too!

Other sites on the net haven't released any other details for the disc; no duration or episode listings. They seem to have the title as, 'Complete Series' though.

For ten quid I'm not expecting every episode to be on the disc... :(

reply

ive just bought the whole set ( every episode) off ebay for a tenner.

reply

Just checking if it IS the complete Nightingales - most sites state it's one series (looks like series 2?). Can't wait to replace my very aged VHS copies! Roll on the official release of Chelsmford 123 ?

reply

My DVD was posted yesterday... Can't wait. Hopefully be spending the weekend watching BOTH series.

reply

The Tesco DVD Rental site has it listed as 325 minutes. that would be right for 13x25minute episodes.

reply

Yup... All thirteen episodes.

:)

No extras though.

Got it today in my hot little hands Woohoo!

I was browsing the net yesterday and randomly typed in nightingales to get a picture of the bird for the wife's class (she is a primary school teacher) and found a link to the DVD!
